I’ve been writing professionally since the late 1970s. Writing became my full-time business sometime in the 1980s, and I started teaching writing in community colleges in the early 1990s.
My first foray into pro writing was as a romance novelist. Editors, publishing houses and literary agents made me miserable. I wrote magazine articles as a diversion, then small businesses began to hire me as a copywriter — I still write copy for clients, because I adore it.
Sometime in the late 1990s, when I began ghostwriting, and writing business books for trad publishers, I launched my first blog. I’ve got a feeling that my first blog was on Blogger — well before Blogger was acquired by Google in 2003.
Blogging enchanted and exhilarated me from the first moment. I LOVE, love, love blogging. What’s NOT to like about instant publishing? I still can’t believe that I can write something or other, and publish it instantly.
If we haven’t met, online or off, I’m pleased to virtually meet you.
On this blog…
What can you expect to find here? Basically information which will help you to write a book, whether fiction or nonfiction, and get it published. Or, self-publish your books as an indie…
And who am I to tell you how to write a book, you may be thinking? I’m an author, writer and copywriter. (As well as a keen blogger, since 2000.) Over my 30 -year writing career, I’ve written both fiction and nonfiction, and have published many books published worldwide by major publishers.
I started my career writing a series of romance novels, which were published by MacDonald-Futura in the UK, and translated into many different languages. I’ve also written dozens of nonfiction books, on topics ranging from self-help to the Internet and making money.
I’m proud to say that my love affair with the Internet began in the 1980s; I wrote one of the first books on making the Internet work for business, which was published in 1998 by Allen & Unwin. That was years before the Internet became commercial.
This blog (and my other blogs) exist because I love to write, and I love publishing in all forms
I love writing, and publishing; I started scribbling when I was eight, and never stopped. If you’re a freelance writer, visit the Fab Freelance Writing Blog. It’s been helping writers to make money since 2006.
