Self-publishing Goes Legit

If you’re self-publishing, take a bow. You’ve become legit. Yes, no need to hide in corners any longer, feeling somehow less legitimate than “real” authors.

Here’s an interested article in the Guardian, Self-publishing sees massive growth | Books |

“‘This is no longer just vanity presses at work – self-publishing is out of the dark corners and making its way into the mainstream,’ said Bowker’s Beat Barblan, adding that earlier this summer, four self-published authors had seven novels on the New York Times ebook bestseller list.”

I’ve just visited Amazon’s Kindle Store.

Kindle Store

As you can see in the image on the right, there are almost 800,000 ebooks in the store. That’s amazing. Over 8,000 have been uploaded in the past month.

So, do take a bow, dear ebook author. You’ve become legit. Stand up straighter — be proud of yourself. 🙂
